That’s how I started Global Teck. I had a couple of boxes of headsets lying around. And I thought I’d want to burn these because I had a bad experience with the manufacturer that I was working for at that time. And I thought, You know what, let me just see if I could sell this. So I called a couple of clients and they say, you know, what we want that come down on our offices. And I ended up they wanted more than what I had. And I thought hmm, this could be a business so how do I sell more I could go to every client in the country in my car and I still won’t ever reach them so I started selling online, and then that evolved into selling on Amazon.

Dave Kelly 0:31

If people say passive income if people say easy they’re probably trying to sell you something. If something is too good to be true, dammit, just like my dad said. It is.

Rolando Rosas 0:42

I’ve talked to a TikTok influencer, I believe she was trying to get her foot off the ground with a drop shipping business. She had a video on it and it had pallets of inventory that she could not sell and her son could not sell. These types of mixed messages that you can just sleep and it’s you know, money’s coming in don’t believe that.

Rolando Rosas 1:12

Welcome to What the Teck?, your gateway to business strategies and tech secrets, shaping today’s workplace. Hey, it’s Rolando coming to you live from the Blue Room here in Loudoun County Virginia and my buddy over there Dave, where are you coming in from?

Dave Kelly 1:29

I don’t even know where I’m at today. I’m in the same place I always am. The safe suburbs of comfortable Southern New Hampshire ,a couple of miles outside of the city of Boston.

Rolando Rosas 1:38

And just a stone’s throw switch nice place I love going there such good vibes, such good city. I know we were talking to a partner the other day from that area, and I told him it’s uniquely Boston, New England wherever you when you go there it’s got its own vibe its own people, its own way, its own lingo you know there’s and I won’t do it any justice by trying to do impressions right now.

Dave Kelly 2:01

Yeah. And I won’t impersonate my own people. But we were watching television last night I started watching a movie and it was based in the city and I told my wife and I’m like, Isn’t that so cool that our home state is in so many movies and she’s like there is a lot of a lot of.

Rolando Rosas 2:16

Matt Damon loves doing the Wallberg’s and Ben Affleck you know he likes he likes going a little low Boston sometimes. It’s fun. It’s great. You guys at DC we just get you know, the the Capitol, the White House. You know, those are those are the shots that are always in. We don’t really have an accent. There’s no accent, there’s no way except, you know, the just show that we’re the nation’s capitol. So you guys have one up on us. But Dave, speaking of one up, I’m so glad that today, we can give sellers more than a one up, we can give them 2, 3, 4, 5 levels up, especially for those that want to take side hustles because we’re in a situation right now where the number of small businesses being created every year has been growing for the last couple of years since the pandemic. And I thought given that drop shipping, reselling, and side hustles tend to all go together, we just share what we’ve learned over 20 years doing exactly just that and succeeding in the face of fierce competition, and fierce price increases when it comes to shipping, the logistics, and things becoming more complicated. So I’m really happy to bring this information out to the world.

Rolando Rosas 2:30

Yeah, for sure. It’s such an interesting time with all these new businesses starting up. You know what this episode is brought to you by Global Teck Worldwide, the technology experts. They’re providing trusted, personalized IT office solutions for over 20 years. So if you’re starting up a new business, you need that tech, you make sure that you check out Global Teck Worldwide out at amazon.com/tech.

Rolando Rosas 3:53

All right, indeed. And you know, we have so much information that we actually need to do a part one and part two, we would do injustice if we tried to cram it all into one episode, Dave. So part one, in this episode, you’re gonna get the how to get started with that side hustle and what to expect, especially if you want to take that side hustle and bring a product over to Amazon. There’s a lot there that a lot of folks don’t know that can go right as well as go wrong, Dave, and we want to help people that are getting started on that journey. Or maybe they’ve just started and they’ve been stumbling and struggling a way to get out of the Amazon hellhole sometimes that you can fall into for no reason. No fault of their own. It’s just the Amazon. It’s his own creature.

Dave Kelly 4:40

And you know what journeys are so exciting. I gotta say we’re a new journeys all the time. And you know, I gotta give big props out to Andrew Berg of Berg Advisors. He worked with us on a software consolidation project. And he’s just an awesome person to work with. He kept the lines of communication open during that entire process. Andrew, thank you so much for your patience. Thank you for being as relentless as you are. And also for allowing this opportunity to learn from We definitely look forward to working with you. We look forward to working with your tribe on an upcoming project. So thank you so much.

Rolando Rosas 5:16

All right, Andrew, thank you very much. We appreciate your business and yield Dave, and just want to say this, before we dive into the show, for those that want to know what part two is going to look like, let me give you just a quick 10 seconds, part two, we will dive into the proven strategies on how to build an eight-figure business that will last for years if you’re diving into the dropshipping game, the reselling game, or retail arbitrage. So we got you covered in part two, before part one, Dave, we’ve got to put the ground rules in place. So the people that are starting off or that are moving forward, at the beginning of this journey, understand what we’re talking about. So first, I want to clarify some terms so that you understand what we’re talking about, because a lot of these terms get conflated and confused, mixed up. So we’re going to help you today with some of this terminology first. So once we get that, we’ll move into some strategies and what to expect. So before we do that, Dave, I think let’s give a taste of what’s out there. Because what’s frustrating for most, before they start their journey, they’re probably getting some mixed messages, mixed signals, about what it’s like to have a side hustle, and what to do with that. Go ahead and roll that.

Guest Speaker 6:35

Here’s how to start selling on Amazon in 60 seconds.

Guest Speaker 6:38

Here’s how to sell on Amazon in 60 seconds.

Guest Speaker 6:40

This is how to make money on Amazon and how complete beginners are making 100 to $700 a day with no experience.

Guest Speaker 6:46

Here’s step by step how to start an Amazon FBA business like making $10,000 a month by a year, and the last 12 months, I’ve sold $1.2 million on Amazon, let me show you how I’m doing it.

Speaker 2 6:56

Here’s something that you could set up by the end of the day today that will make you money for years to come why I chose Amazon FBA as my first side hustle?

Rolando Rosas 7:03

You know, they’ve I’m getting ready to leave right now for lunch, I’m going to sleep the rest of the day, and I’ll let you take over. But if you want to, you can also sleep if you want. And I’m sure that magically money will roll in without us having to lift a finger for the rest of the day.

Dave Kelly 7:04

Absolutely, I was gonna have my team take the rest of the day off, you know, three, four hours a day, not a little fun. Tiktok on the side, they’ve worked hard enough, man.

Rolando Rosas 7:30

I mean, we’re cruising, the money just comes in. And you know what, I don’t know, these people that we pull these clips from, I don’t know them personally. So I don’t know what their motivation is. But I know that a lot of people hear those messages, especially if at the beginning of their journey, or considering jumping into the E-commerce game, and selling drop shipping and doing some of these things that we’re going to define. When they hear this, they think it’s going to be fast, quick, easy money. And it’s anything but that. And I can tell you from 20 years of selling, reselling being online, as a seller, as a founder as a CEO. There’s nothing further from the truth, then it’s going to be quick and easy. There’s things you could do and jump in right away and start making some money. But the fact that you’re just going to immediately start sleeping and it just money just start pouring in. It won’t happen. It just doesn’t work that way. You know what, they’ve probably worked that way. Maybe 10 I would say 15 years ago. Yeah, some days I feel like throwing up like, you know, oh, but I there if you want to be in that level of success, where financial freedom like these people are saying is going to be there, you’re making all the buku bucks. You have to be ready to work and work as hard if not harder at the beginning than your regular job that you’re that you’re leaving to become a side hustle.
